Nepal - geography

Nepal lies at the border between Central- and South-Asia. It is surrounded by India in south, west and eastern direction. To the north it borders Tibet, the 'autonomous' region Xizang of the People's Republic of China. Nepal distinguishes itself by its characteristic climatic, geographic and social extremes. The abundance of diverse landscapes and climatic regions contains almost all climatic zones on earth - because of the extreme altitude differences within this small country.

In the "Himalaya - kingdom", sized slightly larger than Arkansas (about 150.000 km²), the southern planes are at about 500 m above sea level. The northern part on the other hand, which is dominated by the silent and majestic Great Himalayan Range, contains 8 of the 10 world's highest mountain peaks of over 8.000 m above sea level and seems to touch the sky.

A trip to Nepal brings unforgettable impressions of the scenery, which are - because of the extent of those nature forces like the Himalayas, the southern jungle with its unbelievable diversity of species or 3 month of flood-like monsoon rains - touching all visitors deep in their soul.
