After in August 2000 the construction of 10 new toilets for the government school in Neopane was initiated, the representative of "Bauen und Begegnen e.V." and "Govinda e.V." decided together with the school committee in January 2001 to reconstruct the school's buildings.
The school was provided with 20.000 DM for building the first floor. The demand in the contract was that the first floor should finished until end of April 2001 by the school. Since this demand was fulfilled, also the construction of the second floor was financed by us. Altogether this project did cost 40.000 DM and now there are 19 new classrooms in this school.
We want to help the children of the poorest, help improving the standards in government schools in the rural regions and lay the foundations for a cooperative relationship between the local people and the orphanage home.

Since July 2001 the 537 children can be educated in a new and enhanced building by the teachers. Despite the financial bottleneck this caused for the orphanage home we gave the school reconstruction project top priority.
