Shangri-La International School - planning and school management
The construction of the 1200 m² big building with 25 rooms and a separate sanitary building began on 11/07/2001 a was finished at the end of May 2002 - enough space for 500 students.
The planned kindergarten is now also finished. It has enough space so up to 70-80 children can play, run around, learn and relax. The upper floor is frequently used used for playing music, doing sports and other events.
The construction was realized, like the Shangri-La orphanage, in cooperation of Nepalese and German architects, and under permanent supervision of a committee member. In April 2002 we celebrated the opening. The formulation of the pedagogic concept was prepared for one year by volunteers and could be trained with the future teacher staff in the last 5 month before the opening of the school.

So this was the plan. But because of changes in the Nepalese school system we had to finish it much faster! Despite all adversities in the end we managed to celebrate the opening of the school in mid April just in time for the beginning of the new school year!
