The orphan children

Now there is enough space for 50 orphans Currently there are 51 little inhabitants in the "Shangri-La" orphanage home, four of them with disabilities. The kids are between 3 and 16 years of age. They experience love, devotion and security in the best possible extend by our 10 Nepalese employees.

Our youngest one The social contact to the other children in the village shall be secured to prevent social isolation as seen in similar aid projects.

Picnic The cultural education is being promoted by weekly trips, visiting temples, parks and other facilities.

Further on activities together with other orphanage homes are encouraged to strengthen communication and cooperation between different projects.

Most admissions of orphans into our home are initiated by the leprosy colony in Pashupatinath. To make the admission of new children more effective, since January 1999 Juju Bhai and Lakshin Lama, experienced Nepalese employees of the worldwide aid organization "Plan-International", also work for our Nepalese partner association "Shangri-La". They word predominantly in the rural parts of the country and have therefore profound knowledge about the local living conditions. They check all the circumstances when new orphans are taken up. map of Nepal - location of the birth places of our orphan children

The next orphans will come from western regions of Nepal, since poverty and illiteracy rate as well as medical undersupply are there at their highest rate in Nepal.

We try to educate our children by woodworking, pottery, sewing and computers, so they are fit and prepared for learning a job. Each child will be offered to learn a job and start working after school. Some starting money for them is also already being invested.

A children psychologist was employed to diagnose psychic traumatas of our children caused by the living conditions they suffered and initiate possible support.

Our most challenging project is the  Reintegration-Plan (1296 kB) for our children.
