Roles of the project partners

The role of the Shangrila association in the new SCBIDP program

- project planning and training of the involved staff in methods of participative co-operation.
- active role as supervisor, Mediator and coaches in the implementation of the 'Outreach program'.
- project evaluation with all involved parties.
- continuation of the support after completion of the 'Outreach program' in the village regions.
- extending support of the project partners over the scope of the 'Outreach program'.
- Mediator between the project partners and the Govinda development aid association.

For this purpose after signing the co-operation contracts with the KTS in December 2005 an office in Jumla was installed, from where two very well qualified supervisors take care of the aforementioned tasks.

The role of the Karnali Technical School (KTS)

The Karnali Technical School was built 1980 and represents the only training centre of the Karnali zone. It offers four courses under the patronage of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). A total of 258 students learn skills in engineering (CSO), health service (ANM and CMA course) and agriculture (JTA). Additionally short trainings for the rural community are organized, but they decline annually, due to budget reductions of the government. 60 employees work in the KTS.

In the context of the 45 days lasting Outreach program the KTS will send employees and students in four groups into regions selected by the Shangrila association, and play an active role in the planning and implementation of the project (Field Camps, and support of CMA and ANM students in their work with the villages' population).
