Aims of the project
- To give KTS students practical application possibilities of their abilities and talents in the rural communities. These experiences in the fields of agriculture, health and engineeringe will further develop the students' abilities. Furtheron the personal connection with the population, and lasting development of the communities are the center of the project activities.
- Supporting Nepal's "Tenth Plan" for poverty reduction in the Karnali zone by consciousness raising measures and capacity building for disadvantaged subpopulations. They shall be supported by means of participative knowledge and skills transfer in agriculture, health and engineering, as well as supporting their self-confidence in recognizing own strengths and resources.
- Creation of a lasting co-operation between the KTS training centre, the hospital and the rural municipalities. Exchange of knowledge and resources between the project participants.
Expected project results for the population of the supported municipalities (VDCs):
- The population cares for medical and hygenic measures, that is building ans using toilets, hospital attendance, drinking water use and hygiene measures in the daily life.
- The population possesses skills to build sanitary toilets and smokeless stoves and solar plants by themselves.
- The population sends their children to school independently from their sex, with clearly examinable school enrollment rates.
- The population is conscious itself of their problems and resources, and is motivated to use their locally existing resources.
- The population uses agricultural methods, which results in a clear increase of the basic food production with local resources.
- The production of the local medical herbs, which enjoy a high reputation in Nepal, is increased.
- The population has an entirely increased living standard as the supply with the basic needs of their daily life measurably increased.
